Comedians | Scott Agnew
Proving that gay comedy doesn't have to be camp to be funny, Scott Agnew has taken the Scottish comedy scene by the scruff of the neck in the past 12 months.
With two sell out solo shows under his belt ("Scott Agnew" The Merchant City Festival, September 2005 and "Oh hello!" Glasgow International Comedy Festival, March 2006) the giant comic has made a big impact with audiences.
A regular at The Stand comedy clubs, he has equally charmed and shocked crowds with his unapologetically homosexual set, that finally brings real gay men out the closet for all to see.
His engaging manner and his abilities as a raconteur has seen him win fans around the country and also saw him perform every night at 2006's Glasgow International Comedy Festival, working alongside Brendan Burns, Lucy Porter, Des Clarke and many more.
Scott's chronicle of a pre-mature quarter life crisis is not to be missed, covering tales of homosexual misadventure and general recklessness in his early 20s. Hear about fingering ferrets, threesomes and religion as well as gentler tales about Glaswegian tramps and his family, proving he's more than a one-trick pony.
The 25 year old is also one of Scotland's premier comperes and works especially well in bear-pit environments - as he proved hosting the weekly Big Bluu Comedy Gong Show in Glasgow.
"A cross between a Roman Coliseum and the X-Factor." The Scotsman.
His abilities as an MC has seen him host everything from a Transgender Charity Fashion Show to the two Scottish finals of the Emergenza Music Festival at the Glasgow Carling Academy in front of 2000 music fans. JAR Music have renewed his contract with the music competition for 2007.
The former journalist is also a talented comedy writer and his blog of 2005 (www.scottagnew.blogspot.com) drew plaudits from readers around the world. The journal is now being kept privately as Scott works on another project.
