It's not very often we get something funny to laugh about in Perth but the latest addition to the fair city's fast growing evening entertainment options is a comedy club that promises just that.
Just Laugh opened its doors last Friday night to a suitably packed venue at Bliss & Envy Nightclub on Canal Street. Promising three of Scotland's finest, club compère and local funny man Bruce Fummey got the smiles going on folks faces with his warm up act setting the stage for one of Glasgow's top talkers, Frankie Boyle. Often described as one of the foremost talents on the UK comedy scene, Frankie's off the cuff approach certainly went down a treat in Perth. A strong set with great interaction from the audience which set the standard for the comic delights to follow.
Fellow Glaswegian Des McLean was next to take centre stage to the delight of the, by now slightly raucous, crowd. Some unusual tricks on the microphone and scarily lifelike imitations of some of Glasgow's finest non educated delinquents, as they are now termed, had the audience rolling in their seats and gasping to catch their breath.
Closing the set, local Perth comedian Joe Heenan took on the mic and the delight of the crowd. Back in town after his recent run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Heenan was truly on form. Original, engaging and side splittingly observant, Heenan provided the climactic end to a night of belly aching laughter.
