Reviews | Just Laugh Comedy Club Perth
Date: Friday 4th February 2005
Compere: Bruce Fummey
Comedians: Parrot, Kirsty Moss, Teddy, Colin Ramone
With the upcoming expansion of Just Laugh to Dundee and Stirling, compere and founder Bruce Fummey pulled out all the stops for his loyal Perth audience.
First on stage was Colin Ramone, who had the crowd howling with laughter at gags about debt collectors, “fake Irish” pubs and cigarette health warnings. His humour about the differences between the working and middle classes were well received by the Perth crowd.
Kirsty Moss, the next comedian on the bill, had a distinctly sexual theme to her humour, which helped lower the inhibitions of the crowd and helped them relax and enjoy the performances more. Having only been doing comedy for three years, Kirsty showed ability beyond her experiences and highlighted herself as one to watch out for in the future.
The second comedian in the middle third of the show was Teddy, who used true life experiences to entertain the lively crowd. The 25 year old brought a darker sense of humour to Just Laugh, and it was this variety that helped win over the audience at Bliss & Envy.
The headliner for the evening was Parrot, a veteran with 20 years experience. He knew he was off to a good start when he was “heckled before I even got on stage”. Parrot was a laid back comic, whose topics ranged from the sell-by date on beer to being a parent to having half a finger. He left the stage to thunderous applause from the crowd, who seemed thoroughly satisfied with the evening, and eager to buy tickets for the March event.
