Helmut, the comic creation of Marc Blake.

Helmut is the world's finest German stand-up comedian

Can Germans be funny? We think only HELMUT is capable of the laughings. You will soon be fortunate enough to hear his views on Europhobia, British Seaside postcard humour and the pointlessness of Wales. Inefficient Service? Shoe Express? Nothing escapes his rapier wit. Dry, deadpan, and most odd, HELMUT is a comic gem. A true original, with a unique take on the world.

HELMUT has been storming the London comedy circuit during 2003. In May he was a finalist in the Evening Standard/Metro 'Newcomer of the year awards' and in August he will be in the semi-finals of C4's' 'So You Think You're Funny'. He has a weekly residency at 'Sketch Club' at the King's Head, Crouch End and is a regular at the Buzz, Comedy Café, Ha Bloody Ha, Laughing Horse and Chuckle Club.

Marc Blake is a highly experienced stand-up. A finalist in the first Hackney Empire New Act of the year Awards, he later garnered his own TV special "EUROCOMEDY", and a BBC Radio 4 series "WHINING FOR ENGLAND" both of which he also wrote. He has played over two thousand gigs, including all the usual venues plus several hundred substandard rooms above pubs. He left live performance for writing in 1995, until it did his head in.

Europe being a common theme in his work (his 1st novel SUNSTROKE was set in Spain), he has conceived of a character whose attitudes and opinions are quite different to the usual comedy fare. Early outings proved the character's worth, and his HELMUT continues to grow from strength to strength.
