Comedians | Paul Pirie
Paul Pirie began his Stand-up career in April 2004 after giving up acting to pursue the funny man that lies within and quickly established himself on the Scottish comedy circuit. It should be pointed out that at the time he was living with his Gran, having given away his flat in a pub quiz.
Paul has had a consecutive succession of sell out shows at The Glasgow Comedy Festival, most recently in 2007, with his first solo show, “I Pirie the Fool”.
Previous to this, his comedic ability was recognized in 2006 as he took second place in the Scottish Comedian of the Year Award, and his outstanding performances and comical writings were included in “Scotland 4 Australia 1” in 2005 at the Glasgow Comedy Festival, which went on to have a further successful sell out run in the Edinburgh Fringe at the Underbelly the same year. In 2006 he teamed up with other comedians to form ‘Four Men and a Little Lady’, which again had sold out during the Glasgow Comedy Festival in 2006.
In 2005 Paul joined esteemed popular comedy-improv group Dance Monkey Boy, Dance! (also featuring Raymond Mearns), and has helped with the development of the group. In 2006 ‘The Boys’ caught the attention of BBC Radio who recorded the show at the Glasgow Comedy Festival and since then, Dance Monkey Boy, Dance! have gone on to work under the watchful eye of the BBC to develop regular radio shows.
Currently Paul appears regularly as the Headline Act, Main Support or Compere at The Stand in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Ha Ha Comedy, Just Laugh and Mirth Control as well as other various venues throughout Scotland and England.
