This month’s Just Laugh show took a more political note as compere Bruce Fummey had the crowd in stitches with his G8 inspired humour. Fummey also shows he is a talented comedian, coming up with fresh material for each month’s shows.

First on the bill was Kevin Bridges, who questioned Glasgow’s “Scotland with Style” campaign and had us all cringing at the image of Scottish Neds on holiday. Bridges had the crowd howling and was a strong start to the evening.

Next up, giving a funny if slightly unusual performance was Ian the Thundercat. Wearing a paper mask (held in place by about two rolls of sticky tape) his hyperactive performance was definitely far away from anything the Perth crowd had been subjected to before.

Austin Low, possibly Just Laugh’s youngest performer had the hard task of following Ian’s strangeness. Heavily influenced by South Park, Low had a fast paced style of performing, and jumped quickly from one subject to the next.

Gary Little made a triumphant return to the Just Laugh stage. The Glasgow funnyman tore programmes like Cash In The Attic to shreds with his caustic humour, and was possibly the most popular performance of the evening.

Headlining the night was the fantastic Reverend Obediah Steppenwolfe III, whose controversial act not only created hysteria within the crowd, but also raised a few eyebrows. Steppenwolfe acts like a televangelist, and it draws the crowd in, allowing them to become part of the act. The funniest part of the Reverend’s act was when a heckler piped up. Listening to him deal with the audience was funny, amazing and pretty much jaw-dropping. It looked as though everyone who was at Just Laugh left converted, thanks to the Reverend.
